Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about buying tickets and hosting events on Tixyard.
What is Tixyard?
Tixyard is a ticketing website for campus events. Faculties, departments and student associations list their events, and students buy tickets, vote in event polls and show a QR code at the door.
How do I buy a ticket?
Open an event, choose your ticket type and quantity, then enter your name, email and WhatsApp number. Paid tickets are completed on Paystack's secure payment page. Free tickets are issued straight away.
How can I pay?
Through Paystack, using a debit card, bank transfer or USSD. Tixyard never sees or stores your card details.
Where are my tickets after I pay?
We email them to you straight away, with a link that shows each ticket's QR code on any phone. They also appear under My tickets on the phone or account you used, and you can save a ticket as an image.
Do I need an account?
No. You can buy as a guest: your tickets are emailed to you and kept on that phone. If you sign in with Google, you can also see them under My tickets on any phone.
How do I get into the event?
Show the QR code on your ticket at the door. The host scans it once, so each ticket admits one person. Don't share screenshots of your ticket, because the first scan is the one that counts.
How many tickets can I buy at once?
Up to 10 tickets per order.
Why does an event say tickets are held by people checking out?
When someone starts paying, their tickets are held for 30 minutes so two people can't pay for the same last ticket. If they don't finish, the tickets go back on sale.
What happens if the tickets sell out while I'm paying?
If the last tickets go before your payment is confirmed, you won't get a ticket and your money is refunded automatically through Paystack.
Can I get a refund?
Tickets are refunded if the event is cancelled, if you were charged by mistake, or if the event sold out before your payment went through. See the refund policy for the full details.
How do I host an event on Tixyard?
Sign in with Google, open Host an event and apply with your organisation's name, your contact details and the bank account where ticket money should go. Once the Tixyard admin approves you, you can create events, add a vote, sell tickets and check guests in with your phone camera.
How do hosts get paid?
Each approved host gets their own Paystack payout account, so ticket money settles directly to the host's bank account. Any Tixyard service fee is shown to the host before they apply and to buyers at checkout.
