Terms and conditions
Last updated 6 November 2026
Business details still need to be added in config.js (name, email, address) before launch.
These terms apply when you use Tixyard to find events, buy tickets, vote in event polls or host an event. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Tixyard.
1. What Tixyard does
Tixyard is a platform that connects event hosts (faculties, departments and student associations) with people who want to attend. The host who lists an event organises it and is responsible for it. Tixyard provides the event page, the checkout and the tickets.
2. Buying tickets
- Prices are in Nigerian naira and are set by the host. Any Tixyard service fee is shown at checkout before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Paystack. Your purchase is confirmed only once Paystack confirms the payment.
- You can buy up to 10 tickets per order. Give accurate contact details so the host can reach you about the event.
- Each ticket has a unique QR code and admits one person once. Keep it private: if someone else uses your code first, entry can be refused.
- The host sets the entry rules for their event (for example, student ID checks or age limits) and can refuse entry if they aren't met.
- We email your tickets to the address you enter, with a private link to their QR codes. Anyone who has that link can use your tickets, so don't share it.
Refunds
Tickets are final sales, except that you get a full refund (including any service fee) if the event is cancelled, if tickets sold out while you were paying (this happens automatically), or if you were charged in error. If an event is postponed, your ticket stays valid for the new date. The full rules and how to ask for a refund are in our refund policy, which is part of these terms.
Your data
We use your name, email and phone number to issue and email your tickets, and we share them with the event host so they can run the event and contact you about it. Payments are handled by Paystack. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and your rights, including asking us to delete your data.
3. Accounts
You can buy without signing in, in which case your tickets are stored on that device. Signing in with Google lets you see your tickets on any device. You're responsible for keeping access to your Google account secure.
4. Event polls
Hosts can add a poll to an event. Each person can cast one vote per poll and may change it while voting is open. Don't use multiple accounts or automated tools to vote.
5. Hosting events
- Hosts must apply and be approved before selling tickets. We may refuse or remove a host at our discretion.
- Hosts must give accurate event details, hold the event as described, and follow the law and their institution's rules.
- Ticket money settles to the host's bank account through Paystack. Hosts must give correct bank details and are responsible for any taxes on their income.
- If a host cancels an event, the host must refund ticket buyers as set out in the refund policy. We may help process refunds and may recover refunded amounts from the host.
- Hosts may only use buyers' contact details to run the event they bought tickets for, and must protect them.
6. Not allowed
Don't list illegal, unsafe, hateful or misleading events; resell tickets above face value through Tixyard; try to get around payments or security; copy, scrape or overload the site; or use someone else's account or payment details.
7. Our responsibility
We work to keep Tixyard available and secure, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted. Hosts, not Tixyard, are responsible for running their events, including safety, timing and what happens at the venue. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim about a ticket is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.
8. Changes and suspension
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. We may suspend accounts or remove events that break these terms.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
